Humans are inherently social creatures, driven by an innate desire for connection and belonging, a concept Aristotle delved into to explain our inclination for comparison and relationships. This photographic project delves into the complex interplay between individual and collective identities within a tight-knit community of young women immersed in a predominantly male-dominated subculture.
Originating in Den Haag (Netherlands), this group of girls forms a dynamic microcosm characterized by diverse nationalities and backgrounds, all converging to share the exhilaration of skateboarding. This gathering serves as a haven for self-expression, a realm where they can manifest their freedom. Through a symbiotic collaboration with these girls and an intimate immersion within their community, this work aims to capture the motivations and emotions driving them to unite within this collective.
