La casa dei sogni
2018-2020
‘La casa dei Sogni’, the Dream House, was inscribed on the tag of the spare keys by my roommate Nicolò.
Giovinézza (ant. Or poet. Youth) s. f. [der. of youth, young]. – 1. Intermediate age between adolescence and maturity in which whole afternoons are spent sitting on the balcony looking into the sun, sitting on the floor and laughing and dancing. Sitting on chairs that gloat over, always smoking too many cigarettes, and drinking a few beers. Impromptu dinners and cakes that come out badly. 60° washing machines clean the remains of the previous night. Being one as a family, happy for everyone’s successes and less happy for oneself. Exchanging thoughts and saliva whilst there is youth in Bologna.
La casa dei Sogni is an intimate diary of the daily life of the apartment I was living in and sharing with my roommates for three years. A diary of moments and memories that still remain. A familiar experience both for those who have lived it in the past, and for those who are living it to the present day. Living in a constant limbo between adolescence and adulthood, poised between personal achievements, responsibility, and absolute freedom; the daily life of youth is characterized by changes, choices, and desires, but also by many doubts, confusions, and uncertainties. A growth process made of hopes. The banality of everyday life in the complexity of a post-adolescent growth phase; an intimate vision of a place that tells us about experiences. A phase of growth so fragile but at the same time full of proactive energy.
